Born in Tylden, Eastern Cape, in South Africa on 18 December 1946. As a medical student Biko found the South African Student Organization (SASO) which culminated into the renowned black consciousness movement. Biko was assassinated by the apartheid government on 12 September 1977 at the age of 30.
